It’s time for Buwan ng Wika again, this year the school theme is “Aliwan Fiesta”. Each section represents one Philippine fiesta, for grade one student they are required to do a “Pinyahan Festival” As early as first week of August, nag padala na ng copy ang school what costume we need to do. It’s not that hassle to do it; we just need to provide a yellow shirt and green cartolina.
Since mommy is not artistic, daddy is the one who is in-charge for his costume. He just used green marker and sign pen for his yellow shirt to look like pineapple. I asked daddy to make two crown baka masira isa saan ako mghahanap ng kapalit sa kalagitnaan ng program. Little Kulit is so happy in his costume, he is so proud sa gawa ng daddy niya.
They have two performance, I enjoyed watching him dancing he is really big boy na, he improved a lot from senior casa days. Konting panahon na lang talaga he will be my little man.
As a working mom, I really make time for his school activity present ako sa lahat I want him to feel that he is very important kaya nga ako nag trabaho for him. I want to witness all his milestones.
Hey, that is so nice.
Anyway, syempre beyond the costume, it is watching your kiddo.
🙂 minsan lang sila maging bata and need to support them all the way para they have a confidence when they grow up
His costume is so cute!! Props to your husband! I would never have thought of making pineapple patterns on t-shirts. 🙂 This reminds me of how my dad used to really awesome costumes for us when we were kids. He once made my brother a paper mache banana costume. 🙂 Hahaha. I didn’t inherit my dad’s creative genes, so I’m hoping that when I have kids, I would have learned enough to make costumes as cute as yours. 🙂
Our Buwan ng Wika activities in our homeschool this year are a bit low key. We read lots of Filipino children’s books that highlight Filipino values. I also let the children play a lot of pretend plays that are usually found in the Filipino way of life. We capped it with a field trip to Museo Pambata. After that, we ate Filipino food at Aristocrat restaurant. 🙂
I really admire home schooling, how I wish that someday I can also do that
This is such a cute post. It reminded me of my school days where we used to dress up and perform. Being a working mom and ! managing so much could be a great deal. Hats off
Thanks 🙂
Kaya I’m sure yan din mararamdaman nila. Ah, soon, may ganito na din ako! haha.
yah sis na guilty ako during nutrition month nya sabi kasi sa note regular school day, yun pala some parents nagpaiwan pa rin to see their kids during the parade. He said no one took my picture, guilty na guilty ako sis
These are the times the artistic prowess of the parents is pushed to the limits. When children have programs or projects like this, parents usually are the competitive ones in doing the children’s costumes. So I’m actually excited to experience what you guys are experiencing already , making a pinyo costume 😛 I’m just not too excited with all the expenses though haha
You are doing a great job Anna and that smile on your kid’s face reflects it.
Thanks 🙂
This post reminds me of my little sister. Ugh, I suddenly miss her now. I used to accompany her in school programs and when she was in kindergarten, she was a sampaguita during buwan ng wika 🙂
wow! I miss this during my childhood days I used to nag my dad to make me one.
Your little Kulit is growing handsome and talented too.
Congrats mate for raising him well.
cheers! http://www.masterryo.com
It’s so important to witness our children’s milestones, these are memories to keep but moments that we can’t go back in time to recover.
All the best for you.
Indeed, no matter how hectic our schedule is, we should spare time for them most especially when it comes to events in school. I like the DIY Pineapply costume.
I used to prepare costumes too when my son was still in preschool years, ngayon wala na. More on aral na ang grade school.
he is grade one now, yah puro assignment, quiz and project naloloka na ko din
Good job Mommy! Practically, its always nice to be creative and resourceful esp. sa mga costumes na kakaiba.. I also diy my kids costumes as long as i can.. Why not db? And surely, Mommies will always be proud of their little ones.. No.1 fan tayo lagi 🙂
yah forever number one fan and stage mom, minsan nkakawala poise makakuha lang ng video
That’s a nice costume! I don’t think I would have thought of making a pineapple costume by simply drawing lines and dots on a yellow shirt. 🙂
his daddy made it, kasi pag ako wala me ka arte arte he he he
This is one of the reasons why I’m excited when my little girl goes to school already! Hehe!
Thumbs up for your hubby. My husband would only point a finger on me when it comes to artsy stuff (and I am not even good at it)..
ako talaga walang ka art art 🙂
Hi Mommy Anna!
I salute you for making an effort to attend your son’s school activities. Kids really need to feel valued and loved.
God bless 🙂
Cutie pie! That’s how we do it in my alma mater (Assumption in Davao). They rarely made us buy expensive costumes, so we learned how to be resourceful at an early age!
Your hubby did such a great job!
Galing how you were able to make a pineapple costume mommy 🙂 It’s nice talaga whenever schools have activities like these. Students get to participate and parents get to be creative 🙂
I like the idea of the pineapple shirt…pero bakit parang dalawa sila ng classmate nya na sa same costume? hihi. I love the headdress too. Our kids only had the common magsasaka outfit for buwan ng wika. It wasn’t that much fun to put together hihihi.
His costume looks great! Simple, but effective!
Great job, Mommy and Daddy as well! My daughter loves to pretend play and wear costumes, I DIY too. We always love the outcome. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Good job Mommy because you still make time for your son’s school activities. Seeing you in activities such as those you mentioned above surely boosts your son’s confidence. And cute ng costume and most of all yung smile nya. 😀 I can feel I will also be a stage momma for my son’s school activities 3-4 years from now. Hihi
Good job kay daddy! I love activities like this where parents can also make their part on doing the costumes. I hope I can also do this when the twins are in school na.
Nice DIY costume! Like you, I’m also a stage mom, always there for my son’s milestones and ready at all times with my camera. Lol!
That costume is so simple and yet so genius! Ang galing! 🙂
That’s so true mommy, I am a working mom too but I have no schooling kiddo yet. But I want to be always present on their milestones esp. to their learning stages 🙂
This is a nice costume 🙂 When you’re a mom, you will definitely do everything for our kids, even in those things we’re not very good at 🙂
